The museum's Prendergast collection consists of about 400 works by Charles and Maurice Prendergast and about 1500 related archival objects. Check back throughout our project as we integrate the archival objects into the collection and digitize both the fine art and archives.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services has awarded the Williams College Museum of Art a grant for a three-year project (2011-2014) which will include digitally photographing the entire Prendergast collection of fine art and archives, including paintings, works on paper, hand-carved frames, sketchbooks, decorative arts, letters, documents, ephemera, and carving tools, and integrating the archives into the permanent collection.
