The personal photo collection of Charles and Maurice Prendergast has now been digitized and made available on our website.
This collection dates back to 1877 and includes photos of the Prendergast brothers as well as their family members and friends.
The digitization of this collection is particularly important, because up until now, there were only a handful of images of the Prendergast brothers that were publicly available.
In addition to protraits, this collection includes pictures of the brothers engaged in everyday activities thus giving viewers a glimpse inside their everyday lives.
In one of the photos, you can see Maurice and a friend looking through some of the art books that appear to be from the book collection that was gifted to us by Eugenie Prendergast.
In addition to these photographs we also have images of personal items such as a bronze medal awarded to Maurice Prendergast from the Corcoran Gallery of Art,
and Charles Prendergast’s pocket watch, wallet, and 1945 Connecticut driver’s license.
Up next we have images from the Prendergast’s magazine collection.
