Isaac Witkin (b. 1936, Johannesburg, South Africa; d. 2006, Pemberton, NJ)

Isaac Witkin’s dynamic abstract work consists of irregular welded steel plates that slice into one another, delicately balanced on precise contact points. The work’s sharp edges contour the surrounding air, allowing for a constantly changing play of light and shadow, based on the viewing angle and the time of day.

Gift of Jacques and Donatella Lennon to Williams College Museum of Art. 91.2.1.

Located in Greylock Quad.
