WCMA at Night: Working Together

The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) continues WCMA at Night an evening series of happenings with music, food, dancing and more, on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. WCMA at Night: Working Together is instigated by Hana van der Kolk and collaboratively designed and enacted with Asher Woodworth, Karl Mullen (sound), and Williams College students Stephen Simalchik, Tracy Hu, Audrey Kwon, and Kelly Wang, this WCMA at Night event responds to the alienating forces of economic competition, virtual communication, and over-scheduled existences.

Lisa Dorin Named Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs

The Williams College Museum of Art announced today the appointment of Lisa Dorin as the new deputy director for curatorial affairs. Dorin, an alumna of the Williams graduate art history program, is currently the associate curator of contemporary art at the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC). She will bring to Williams her curatorial expertise in new media and her passion for working with emerging artists when she takes on her new role at the museum on March 4, 2013.

WCMA Presents Beyond the Canvas: Exploring Artistic Narrative by the Williamstown Theatre Festival

Theater and art lovers alike will enjoy a series of site-specific performances inspired by the WCMA collection, featuring artists from the WTF Workshop. Each piece, directed by 2012 WTF Workshop company members Elizabeth Carlson, Jordan Fein, Kel Haney, and Joe Pikowski, will be conceived around artworks from WCMA’s exhibitions and permanent collection.

On Monday, July 30 at 4 p.m., Jessica Hoffman Davis will deliver the keynote address for the inaugural Kidspace Summer Teachers Institute. The event, held at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the address where Davis will be available for book signings.

The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) and the Williamstown Theatre Festival (WTF) invite you to grab your American flags, tinsel, and Uncle Sam hats for a day of events celebrating The Fourth of July in Williamstown, MA. The day will commence with a Fourth of July Parade at 11:00 a.m. with appearances from stars of the Williamstown Theatre Festival 2012 season followed by the annual Reading of the Founding Documents at WCMA at 1:30 p.m. The celebration comes to a close with a performance of David Hyde Pierce’s hilarious new production of The Importance of Being Earnest at 7:30 p.m.
