Asco Exhibition in the Press

The Asco exhibition co-organized by WCMA, opens Sunday, September 4th at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and will travel to WCMA opening in February 2012. Former Deputy Director John Stomberg and Curator of Special Projects Kathryn Price talk about Reflections on a Museum the re-installation of the museum’s permanent collection along with loans from the Yale University Art Gallery. Reflections on a Museum takes the “museum” as its subject. It features 7 exhibitions, nearly 400 objects from the museum’s permanent collection, spans 9 galleries, and 5,000 years of art history.

WCMA Awarded Prestigious Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services

Thanks to a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) will integrate its archives of American artist brothers Maurice and Charles Prendergast, into the museum’s permanent collection. The three-year project will also include digitally photographing the entire Prendergast collection of fine art and archives, including paintings, works on paper, hand-carved frames, sketchbooks, decorative arts, letters, documents, ephemera, and carving tools.
